The Young Gathering Ball – Wednesday 16 December 2026

Following the fantastic response to the Young Gathering on Thursday 17 December, we are delighted to have added an extra date on Wednesday 16 December 2026.

Join us at St Columba’s, Pont Street for a high-energy, formal evening of Scottish reeling, with a live band.

The Ball is exclusively for students currently in Years 11, 12 and 13.

EVENING PROGRAMME

  • 7pm: Doors open for drinks reception and filling in dance cards
  • 7.30pm: First dance (Dashing White Sergeant)
  • 9pm: 15-minute break / interval
  • 10.45pm: Dancing ends
  • 11pm: Carriages

DRESS CODE

Boys: Black Tie or Highland Dress.
Girls: Long dresses or skirts. Shoes that spin are strongly recommended. No trainers, please.
Tartan is very much encouraged!

TICKETS

Tickets are £64 per person and are available in groups of 8–24.

Each booking must contain an equal number of boys and girls, and the whole group should be purchased in a single booking.

WHO CAN ATTEND

  • Years 11–13: This Ball is exclusively for students currently in Years 11, 12 and 13.
  • Group tickets only: Tickets are sold in groups of 8–24, with equal numbers of boys and girls.
  • No reeling experience needed: Beginners are very welcome, but should attend the pre-Ball practice.
  • Optional pre-Ball practice: At St Columba’s on the same day as the Ball. Strongly recommended for beginners! Full details will be sent to ticket holders nearer the time.
  • On the night: The reels will be called by John Carver (@JohnTheCaller).
